Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the U.S. She's worked as an editor since the year 1995. Feminist Frequency provides videos, commentary and analyses of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded awards for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a site to educate women about their roles in pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. She also serves as the executive director. In addition, she works to bring awareness to the targeted and sexist assaults on women and as well as other minorities, she is dedicated to breaking the stereotypes in the pop culture. Holding a master's degree in social and political thought from York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public presenter and has presented speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as at the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Passionate about issues of gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her site Feminist Frequency in 2009 while still a student at the university. The ambitious lady planned to start an internet-based series that examined gender representation in games, and was then the victim of an online campaign to harass her. It was not enough to stop her.
