
Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 of 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou, participant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena the younger sister of his, is also a drummer. Lee was just two years old when his dad moved his family to California. He also received his first drumsticks when he was four, and the first drum set when he was 16. He dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music beginning with the L.A. club band Suite 19. (#5) As a teenager, he was a fan of Van Halen and Led Zeppelin as well as Kiss, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. John Bonham and Tommy Aldridge were his primary drumming inspirations.
